About The Ambassador

AMB. (Dr.) Malami Shehu Ma’aji, MFR, is a distinguished Nigerian whose intellect, knowledge, and resourcefulness have earned him recognition across multiple spheres — internationally at the United Nations, nationally through the conferment of a National Honour, and locally in his place of birth, Sokoto.

Born into the royal lineage of Sheikh Usman Danfodio, the revered Islamic reformer and founder of the Sokoto Caliphate, Dr. Ma’aji was nurtured in a legacy of scholarship, service, and leadership. His early education was shaped by eminent scholars within his family, including his maternal grandfather, the late Wazirin Sokoto, Junaid, whose guidance helped instill in him a deep commitment to learning and societal development.

Driven by an insatiable quest for knowledge — a trait deeply rooted in his family heritage — Dr. Ma’aji pursued advanced studies and earned multiple fellowships from reputable institutions and professional bodies both within Nigeria and abroad. His career has since reflected a unique blend of intellectual depth, diplomatic engagement, and humanitarian service, positioning him as a respected Ambassador-at-Large for the International Human Rights Commission and a voice of integrity in global development discourse.
